London Street Diary - 04/02/2013

After watching Super Bowl, I was having longer sleep and I had woken up at the right time to get to work. My today shift was pretty good and I was really enjoying it. Working at Starbucks is really good job and I can handle all the stuff pretty well. I know I will be bored after some time, but I am not expecting any wonders from it. It’s just my job. After my shift ended I went to city to Primark to buy new black boots to wear them at Starbucks. I also both some other clothes (+boots), because the Primark stuff is so cheap and it looks pretty good. In the evening I was just resting and skypeing with my older brother. This week he is officially opening our second-hand bookshop in Pezinok. I am really looking forward to buying some English books here and sending them to brother for further selling. I hope I will start doing this at the end of the month. London Street Diary - 29/01/2013

I really enjoy playing guitar, mostly my own stuff, but I am still desperately wanting to play in a band, but I have had no luck so far. I hope it will change one day. Today I had a shift in Starbucks, which consisted mainly of doing paperwork. It was so boring, but besides that I have learned doing cold beverages. They are so simple, but definitely not suitable for a winter time. I am glad that my co-workers are really nice people and they are treating me well. I think I will be enjoying my work, but firstly I need to learn all the stuff. Today I have realized I am surrounded by really great people: guys, who are having me in their house, my new friends here, my co-workers, my friends back home or my internet, mostly music friends (I am so proud of them). I am having good time right now and want to keep it that way. Thanks you guys for reading my entries. I am really glad I am doing my diary again. It helps me to sort things out in my head.

ORCHID TAPES TAPE MACHINE MIXTAPE CONTEST 2012

Hi guys, we’ve had a really incredible past couple of months what with relocating to the States and all the releases by amazing artists that we’ve worked to put out, so we’ve decided it’s time to give back in the form of a contest!

Our early Christmas present to you; a bundle of recent Orchid Tapes releases and a National Panasonic RS-260US top-loading tape player / recorder from 1973 that can be used with or without a stereo receiver (more info here). I’ve had a personal obsession with this style of tape machine for the past little while and I’m super excited to get one of them out to you guys.

Škótsko // 24. november // Deň #073

Už len mesiac a sú tu Vianoce. Darčeky ešte samozrejme nemám nakúpené, okrem trička pre sestru. Dnes som celý deň sedel za počítačom a čakal na správy z burzy. Dopadla výborne, len už boli problémy s priestormi. Predávajúci sa už nezmestili do KC Dunaja, tak asi budeme musieť vymyslieť niečo iné. Predalo sa mi celkom veľa kníh, ktoré som poslal zo Škótska, takže som spokojný aj po tejto stránke. Dnešný dňom sa zavŕšila akási etapa tohto roku. Ďalšie burzy bude mať pod palcom brat, aby mal o tom lepší prehľad. Ja aj tak budem preč, či už v Škótsku, Londýne alebo na Floride. Dnes som dopozeral posledný film od Wesa Andersona a plánujem sa posunúť na ďaľšieho režiséra. Horúcim adeptom je Larry Clark, ktorý práve natočil skvelý film Marfa Girl, ktorý sa dá tu za 6 dolárov pozrieť: http://larryclark.com/marfagirl/ Za tie peniaze sa to oplatí, ten film aj tak nikde inde neuvidíte, ani v kine ani na DVD. Po Moonrise Kingdom najlepší tohtoročný film, ktorý som videl. Síce sa burzová sezóna už pomaly končí, jedna bude fungovať nonstop a to na facebooku: http://www.facebook.com/groups/341851682577582/ Ak máte hocičo, čo hľadáte alebo predávate, píšte do nej a samozrejme ju zdieľajte. Písal som si dnes aj s jedným chalanom z Philadelphie zo skvelej kapely Pill Friends: http://pillfriends.bandcamp.com. Strašne mi chválil môj start-track, čo ma veľmi potešilo. Blog si robím hlavne pre seba, ale vždy mi vyčarí úsmev na tvári, keď sa niekomu páči. Škoda je, že ho nesleduje viacej ľudí, lebo tie kapely, čo tam dávam, sú naozaj dobré a počúvania hodné. Musím vymyslieť nejaké dobré promo, ale takisto sa poteším, ak mi ho pomôžete rozšíriť: http://start-track.com/ Mám výsledky aj z eseje z Filmu. Mal som rovnako 17 z 20 ako z English, čo ma dosť prekvapilo, lebo tá esej bol hrozne napísaná, ale tak nesťažujem sa. Spravil som dnes aj test z History of Art na plný počet. Bodaj by nie, keď som pritom cheatoval. Veď som študent, nie? 

Škótsko // 13. november // Deň #062

Keby sa ma dnes niekto večer spýtal: “Čo si dnes robil?” Odpovedal by som: “Nič.” Nemá to ďaleko do pravdy. Polovicu dňa som prespal, druhú polovicu som presedel za počítačom. Chcel som písať esej, ale akosi som bol nevyspatý. Spal som vyše 15 hodín s malou prestávkou, ale vôbec som sa dobre nevyspal. Nebol som vôbec schopný premýšľať a ani náladu som nemal bohvieakú. Bol som príliš vyčerpaný zo včerajšej práce. Pozeral som si nejaké krátke filmy, hľadal inšpirácie na esej a aspoň som nejako pokročil, ale čaká ma ešte mnoho práce. Dnešný deň by som skôr považoval za premrhaný, ale aj také dni tu chcem mať. Aspoň sa mi trochu utriedili myšlienky v hlave, lebo už mám toho moc. Burza sa nám celkom dobre rysuje, čo sa veľmi teším, len by som tam veľmi chcel byť. Chýba mi tu také niečo reálne, lebo internet je stále len virtuálny svet. Poteším sa, ak ešte rozšírite ďalej moju burzu: http://www.facebook.com/events/357575650991565/ a, samozrejme, ak prídete s čo najviac kamarátmi. Bude tam kopec skvelých knižiek, aj tie mnou nakúpené zo Škótska. Uvedomil som, že, aj keď som v Škótsku, robím stále tie isté veci ako na SK. Len som od nich ďalej a chýba mi tá reálna časť. Moc sa mi tu nerysuje nič takého reálneho a ani koncerty tu nemám pre koho robiť, tak na to kašlem. Odporúčam inak vyhľadať dve kapely: Beach Fossils a DIIV - skvelé veci. Je zvláštne, že v Amerike majú ľudia väčšiu radosť z toho, že robím hudobný blog ako ľudia na Slovensku alebo tu, ale tak čo už.
