Me, freedom, music and books...

London Street Diary - 04/02/2013

After watching Super Bowl, I was having longer sleep and I had woken up at the right time to get to work. My today shift was pretty good and I was really enjoying it. Working at Starbucks is really good job and I can handle all the stuff pretty well. I know I will be bored after some time, but I am not expecting any wonders from it. It’s just my job. After my shift ended I went to city to Primark to buy new black boots to wear them at Starbucks. I also both some other clothes (+boots), because the Primark stuff is so cheap and it looks pretty good. In the evening I was just resting and skypeing with my older brother. This week he is officially opening our second-hand bookshop in Pezinok. I am really looking forward to buying some English books here and sending them to brother for further selling. I hope I will start doing this at the end of the month. But the best thing about this evening is an article about the Ryan’s compilation on some Philly website: http://thekey.xpn.org/2013/02/04/free-download-get-a-snapshot-of-the-philly-diy-scene-from-across-the-globe-in-this-slovakian-digital-compilation/ I am so happy that someone in US is writing about my blog and stuff I am doing. I hope I will be one day more influential in music and my blog http://start-track.com/ will be better known. Thanks to everyone, who has been helping me with it. I am so happy I have been involved with great people through my Start-track.

London Street Diary - 01/02/2013

I like to wake up in the morning and the sun is shining at me through the window. Having a shift in afternoon makes me a little bit confused about what to do until the start of the shift. I have realized that doing the dishes is really relaxing and I should do it more often. It is a perfect opportunity to think about anything you wish to. Also travelling to work gives me time to write poems. I am writing everyday something small and I will continue practicing. I hope I will be able to write poems in English at some point. Today my shift at Starbucks was just crazy. The main reason for that were Italian/French tourists, who were not able to order anything properly. It made me so exhausted to fulfill their whatever wishes. I was working for 4 and half hours, but it felt like whole day. In the evening I visited my friends and we watched a film together. I do not know what was its name, but it was not bad at all. However, it was the type of film you are glad to watch just once. Yesterday I was watching Lords of Dogtown and I was wishing to be there and experience the beginnings of pool skating.  But I am here living completely different life which I am not going to regret.

I had always thought that bureaucracy in Slovakia is crazy, but in UK it is even worse. You have to fill out tons of papers and you are still not done. The most bizarre thing was to fill out a form, where you were listing people who will get your salary after something happens to you aka you will die. It made me laugh. My shift today started at 6 am and I was expecting it will be hard for me to do it, but surprisingly I was so fresh and it went well. Though my co-workers looked like zombies so it was funny to work with them. I have found today in my mailbox the first ticket to a show of Canadian Metz, who will be playing in London on Saturday. I am so excited to see them and I hope I will meet there some new friends. Today I was also uploading songs to my Starttracker’s bandcamp for a mixtape made by Ryan Wilson from Pill Friends. It consists of bands from Philadelphia and it sounds just wonderful. It is one of the best compilation I have ever heard and it will be free to download. I will keep you posted when it is published.

London Street Diary - 30/01/2013

I am writing this post very tired despite my today’s shift was not so long. Maybe I am not consuming enough food to have a lot of energy. My day was pretty good though. I have slept well, the sun was shining almost whole day and even the shift went well. I have created new riffs on my guitar and I was listening whole day to my old favorite Wavves. I always wanted to do such music, so maybe it’s time to try something like that. My days are not super exciting, but I like them. I am having simpler and a little bit slower life, but it will change soon, when I will be exploring the city more. I have no shifts at weekend, so I will wander randomly through different parts of city, where I have not been yet. Tomorrow I have early shift, so I need to go sleep really soon. Btw, if you have any questions about my life here, write me a message and I will always answer them in my diary entries.

London Street Diary - 29/01/2013

I really enjoy playing guitar, mostly my own stuff, but I am still desperately wanting to play in a band, but I have had no luck so far. I hope it will change one day. Today I had a shift in Starbucks, which consisted mainly of doing paperwork. It was so boring, but besides that I have learned doing cold beverages. They are so simple, but definitely not suitable for a winter time. I am glad that my co-workers are really nice people and they are treating me well. I think I will be enjoying my work, but firstly I need to learn all the stuff. Today I have realized I am surrounded by really great people: guys, who are having me in their house, my new friends here, my co-workers, my friends back home or my internet, mostly music friends (I am so proud of them). I am having good time right now and want to keep it that way. Thanks you guys for reading my entries. I am really glad I am doing my diary again. It helps me to sort things out in my head.

London Street Diary - 26/01/2013

I have a new job, so it is a time for a new diary. This one will be written in English. I am sorry, if you find any grammar mistakes. Just let me know in the message if you find something. I will try to improve my writing by the time. Today I have started working at Starbucks. I was learning all coffee things, how to work with coffee machines, knowing the the stuff we are selling, etc. The shift was long (9 hours) so I feel a little bit tired writing my first diary entry. But I am happy I have the job, which I really enjoyed today. Today I was reading in a bus the Jean-Paul Sartre’s book The Wall. I recommend it to anyone, who like his works or French decadence. Today I have learned that I can enjoy my work, if I am willing to do so. It is always up to me and my attitude towards it. The diary entries will be always short and with 3 photos. I hope you will enjoy it as many of you were encouraging me to start a new diary. So let’s begin a new episode.
