London Street Diary - 02/02/2013
I was spending my first half of day reading a book I got as Christmas present: Nicholas Ostler: Empires of the Word (mine is a czech translation). I started with chapter about origin of English language and how it has been spread to different parts of world (America, India). I did not know how much you can learn by studying the history of specific language. I have read just one chapter and I know so many new things. I will be enjoying reading this book in next days. In the afternoon I was skypeing with my older brother and we were discussing so many things. We always have a long and productive talks. But the most important part of my day was the evening. I was at my first show at Birthdays in London and it was amazing. First band playing were young psych rockers The Wytches from Brighton, who were so good. Unfortunately I had not any chance to chat with them. Next band were Fair Oh’s from London, but they were not my taste. Though their show was funny, because nothing was working for them. The last band, the headliner were METZ from Toronto, Canada. This noise/hardcore rockers were playing amazingly and I was enjoying them so much. The crowd was wild and music too and I was completely satisfied after the show. Here is song called Wet Blanket, which was played at the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krGDNbT4CSE I am so excited for next shows in London, especially the noisy ones.
