London Street Diary - 07/02/2013

Today I had finally experienced how a busy day looks like at Starbucks. It was pretty hard to catch up with everything and make all orders properly, but it ended up pretty well. I also checked up my schedule for next week and I will be working for few hours in another store. It will be really different experience since our store has special clientele of businessmen. But I will have extra hours, what means I will get more money at the end of the month. After my shift I was waiting in store and doing some work (translating manual). I was also waiting for Lea until she is free and we can go somewhere for a cup of coffee. She had special map with independent coffee stores in London, so we were going to try new one. It was called Workshop: http://www.workshopcoffee.com/ and it is really nice place to take your friend for a tasty cup of coffee. I really like their logo and poppy/orange cake. I had really great time sitting in really friendly environment and chatting with Lea about different things. In the evening I was writing with Reid Maynard from band Olive Drab (http://olivedrab.bandcamp.com/) and he send me his unreleased EP with great music. Though it will be soon released on my bandcamp and I am so happy to do that. He was not planning to publish it, but I convince him to show it to people through my blog. I would love to do similar things for different people, because I enjoy releasing stuff. At some point I want to start own label and do recording of tapes by myself, but I am really happy that I am part of Spirit Cat right now.

London Street Diary - 06/02/2013

First day in my new room I spent in my new bed. Though I was not sleeping whole day. In late afternoon I went for a walk through streets. I really like wandering with no special destination. Just exploring different places and discovering things that would be normally hidden from me. In the evening my new friend Lucy texted me to come for a dinner. Afterwards they were having biblical studies and I have joined them. It was fun and completely different way of studying bible and I liked it. Lucy is also the one who borrowed me the guitar, but I was not taking it to my new house. However, she told that she would not mind if I take the guitar to my new place. I was afraid I will be without guitar for a long time, but I will continue to practice more and more. At some point I will try to record it and share it on my blog. But there is so much to do, before I will be at least satisfied with my songs and especially guitar playing. I am living with music all days and it is becoming permanent part of my life. Today I was listening to this new album by fthrsn: http://fthrsn.bandcamp.com/ and also to this Sam Ray’s Ricky Eat Acid  new beautiful song: https://soundcloud.com/rickyeatacid/i-can-hear-the-heart If you are reading my diary and you are not following my blog: http://start-track.com/, you should start to!

London Street Diary - 05/02/2013

I have moved to my new room on a new address: 18 Verity House, Merchant Street, Mile End, London, E3 4LR I would be happy if you send me anything, from a drawing to postcard to letter. The house looks really nice from outside and even inside it is not bad. My room is a little bit small, but I like it. However I have to buy some Ikea stuff to better utilize the whole space. I will miss my previous room and guys, who were so nice to me, but I have to live on my own. My new flatmates seem to be really nice people. Today another girl has just moved in this flat and she is from Sweden. It made me so happy, because I was planning to learn Swedish and she will certainly help me (I have already asked). My today shift was in the morning and we had a busy times and lots of customers. After shift I was just sleeping and waiting for the evening to move to my new room. I live just 5 minutes from my previous temporary accommodation, so I will be able to see all of my friends. Unfortunately I did not take the guitar, because I was not sure, whether I can borrow it to my new place. But I want to buy one for myself as well as bicycle and maybe skateboard. Thus  I need to work hard and save some money. From today I am officially leaving on my own with my own work and I feel more like an adult, but I will be child forever. I have realized that my diary is attracting more people and also my friends from different parts of the world are reading it.

London Street Diary - 04/02/2013

After watching Super Bowl, I was having longer sleep and I had woken up at the right time to get to work. My today shift was pretty good and I was really enjoying it. Working at Starbucks is really good job and I can handle all the stuff pretty well. I know I will be bored after some time, but I am not expecting any wonders from it. It’s just my job. After my shift ended I went to city to Primark to buy new black boots to wear them at Starbucks. I also both some other clothes (+boots), because the Primark stuff is so cheap and it looks pretty good. In the evening I was just resting and skypeing with my older brother. This week he is officially opening our second-hand bookshop in Pezinok. I am really looking forward to buying some English books here and sending them to brother for further selling. I hope I will start doing this at the end of the month. But the best thing about this evening is an article about the Ryan’s compilation on some Philly website: http://thekey.xpn.org/2013/02/04/free-download-get-a-snapshot-of-the-philly-diy-scene-from-across-the-globe-in-this-slovakian-digital-compilation/ I am so happy that someone in US is writing about my blog and stuff I am doing. I hope I will be one day more influential in music and my blog http://start-track.com/ will be better known. Thanks to everyone, who has been helping me with it. I am so happy I have been involved with great people through my Start-track.

i wanna die now

tell me how

i am gonna miss this world

without saying any word

and telling me nonsense

that living has sense

be there for others

fulfill wishes of fathers

hang out with friends

but i am sick of this

your big lies

even the little flies

are living shortly

i just wanna be alone

for rest of my life

have no wife

and no child

just live wild

have no limits

listen to different spirits

and die young

song 46 is by my handsome friend reid and it’s under his real name ‘reid maynard’. reid plays in/is the main dude pretty much in olive drab, who are one of the best bands in philly right now and are recording a full length that should be out in the spring to follow up their really great first ep. i’ve made it no secret how much i love reid’s music and this song might be my favorite he’s ever sent me. he showed me it a long time ago and i’ve loved it ever since and am really glad it gets to be part of this project. reid’s working on some more tracks for the blog too and hopefully we’ll have em soon.

this song is called ‘shoobie’. reid is very handsome.

London Street Diary - 03/02/2013

My Sunday was a really good day. I was tidying my room, doing my laundry, playing guitar and resting after yesterday evening. It was still buzzing in my ears and I could not hear properly. But the yesterday show was amazing. In the evening I went to City to St Helen’s Church and had really good time there. There was a pastor from Kentucky giving really great sermon. After the service we had as usually a student supper with a really good talk. Back home I was preparing the mixtape made by Ryan Wilson to be published. And here it is: http://starttracker.bandcamp.com/album/philly I am so proud of it and I am so glad that Ryan was willing to help me with this. I want to get involved more people doing similar compilations from different parts of US (or world). It is a great way how to explore new music and I really enjoy doing so. Rest of the evening I was watching Super Bowl for the first time in my life. I think that other sports are more enjoyable, but it is a great event.

London Street Diary - 02/02/2013

I was spending my first half of day reading a book I got as Christmas present: Nicholas Ostler: Empires of the Word (mine is a czech translation). I started with chapter about origin of English language and how it has been spread to different parts of world (America, India). I did not know how much you can learn by studying the history of specific language. I have read just one chapter and I know so many new things. I will be enjoying reading this book in next days. In the afternoon I was skypeing with my older brother and we were discussing so many things. We always have a long and productive talks. But the most important part of my day was the evening. I was at my first show at Birthdays in London and it was amazing. First band playing were young psych rockers The Wytches from Brighton, who were so good. Unfortunately I had not any chance to chat with them. Next band were Fair Oh’s from London, but they were not my taste. Though their show was funny, because nothing was working for them. The last band, the headliner were METZ from Toronto, Canada. This noise/hardcore rockers were playing amazingly and I was enjoying them so much. The crowd was wild and music too and I was completely satisfied after the show. Here is song called Wet Blanket, which was played at the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krGDNbT4CSE I am so excited for next shows in London, especially the noisy ones.
